There’s a handful of marketers that will be pissed off with me after this post for talking about these traffic tactics. This is some serious hush hush stuff like talking about Daddy being Santa Claus in front of a 4yr old. Even my wife will be a little upset, she hates that I never keep any secrets just for us to use.

The first tactic I’m going to share with you is more for the local marketers or anyone who looking for real world publicity. I consider traffic and publicity the same thing since traffic is usually the side affect of publicity. You’ll learn why press releases work for some people but fail miserably for others with this resource.
The second is a traffic machine for anyone who sells software or is an affiliate for software programs. Finally the third process is for pretty much an information marketer or membership site owner.
National PR Pitch Books
If you know anything about press releases then you’ve heard of PRWeb.com, the Internet’s leading source for press release distribution. Now I’m not saying anything bad about them, I use them, it works. However, compared to having access to a National PR Pitch Book PRWeb is like watered down kool-aid.
A National PR Pitch book is the ultimate publicty hounds resource. For example imagine having the direct contact details for 6,000 of the nations most influential media personel. It gets better too, imagine knowing exactly what time of day they said is best to call them.
What if you had quotes from them saying what contact medium they prefer most? What if they also quoted what not to send and what to send them?
If you could imagine a book that told you exactly what you need to say, when to say it, and how to ask for interviews with the nations leading media – Then you would know exactly what a National PR Pitchbook is all about.
From all the research I’ve ever done on this topic I can only find the one source (linked above) that makes a current National PR Pitch book. They are not cheap either but the potential of money you can make from having the direct contact details of every influential media person in your industry is flabbergasting to say the least.
If you’re interested in getting real media exposure like magazine interviews, newspaper write ups, and even on your local news then you’ll go get yourself one of those books.
Exploiting SitePoint For Affiliate Sales
Those of you that have been following me for awhile know that I’m a big fan of and teach website flipping. That’s not what I’m talking about right now though.
I’m talking about a completely different way to make money using the Sitepoint marketplace. Any affiliate marketer can do this too. Actually any software seller or programmer will love this as well. It’s soo easy too, and this is the one that’s going to piss off some affiliates who have been living it up in secret with this strategy.
All you do is grab any affiliate link to any software then buy a .com domain name that matches the theme of the software. Call your domain provider and ask them how to forward and mask your affiliate link inside that new domain name. Now go write a descriptive listing about what that software does in the Sitepoint.com Marketplace under the section call “Scripts & Software For Sale.”
It only costs 10 credits to post a listing in this section, which is about equal to $10. If you are selling a $197 or lets shoot lower and say a $67 software and you get a 50% affiliate commission – You only have to sell ONE copy to have a 300% return on your listing fee!
Now imagine that $197 software like I was saying and with the same 50% commission, 1000% ROI!!! Just like anything else though you have to keep your target market in mind. I mean SitePoint doesn’t exactly attract the recipe database software kind of audience.
But anything related to web design, SEO, and driving traffic should go over quite well. I know how it works for me, but please keep us posted on your results here in the comments.
Becoming The Pimp Of Geeks
This last traffic tactic in the trinity of traffic silence is something I’ve been doing since back in 2005 when I first started out online. In a past blog post about free website traffic I talked about forum marketing as the most underrated method of free traffic that I use.
Well, I really wasn’t kidding but I hadn’t covered the superuser level of forum marketing. What I’m talking about is much more then just having a link in your sig box and yackin in the forums. Even more then paying an overseas assistant to yack in forums you while you sleep.
To truly become a pimp of geeks you need to be buying space from the elite members in those forums in their sig boxes. They are already yackin it up everyday all day in these forums and they are already respected by the community. It’s like having an instant endorsement from community leaders in your industry.
Since these top forum posters are already posting all day for free they’ll usually jump at the chance to make $200 just for adding a link to their signatures. Most people I meet that are “respected” in forums usually aren’t in the upper level income brackets either. Heck, I’ve even gotten free sig links by offering them a position that makes them look like a leader on my site.
In fact back before I was into Internet marketing, back in my magic the gathering days, I used to be a member of this site that posted new magic the gathering articles. I remember winning a contest for submitting the best article about a new deck I was using and I didn’t even care about the $25 prize. I was just so freaking excited to have my name on the front page of this website!
Some of these guys are so passionate about your niche that they’ll write your reports for free, link to your sites for free, if you just make them look like more of a leader in your niche – or pay them nicely.
Now I’ve just blabbed three of my biggest traffic secrets to you. Although, if all you do is just read them then they won’t do a damn thing for you. If you want to be a traffic kingpin all you need to do is take action and those actions will build confidence.
Go Bigger,
Justin Brooke

PR is something that I need to learn….
One of my friends owns a bikeshop and has gotten on the local news and is using prweb… I thought of him when i started reading this… I will let him know about your blog now
Thanks for the pr link…
Ohh and by the way dude… “Flash of genius” is an awesome movie to see….. it’s one of those stories where you are like… Damn what? NO! and then YES and then NO! in all that…
Tell me that story about the copyright thing with you sometime… I wanna hear that.
Alright man take care!
P.s. “I’m on a boat!”

Your dude from the bike shop NEEDS to buy a book called “Uncommon Marketing Methods” its perfect for local peeps. And “Flash Of Genius” does sound killer.
Hey that is an awesome post Justin, Just awesome !!!
You could have charged a pretty penny for that great info !!
But as usual, You always think of Your subscribers FIRST.
You are a TRUE giver !
Thanks so much for all Your stuff

Tony Markx’s last blog post..Niche Empires – 5 Quick Tips To Get Website Traffic Fast!
Thanks Tony you rock… We still gotta lot more aces up our sleeves too that will come out with time.
Good post Justin! I actually just saw the National PR Pitch Book earlier today and I was wondering if it was worth it…I guess I got my answer. lol. I guess I might have to go grab a copy.
I have never used Sitepoint, so I have a few questions about that traffic tactic. When you put up a listing isn’t that putting your domain up for sale? So how are you making sales with this? From people seeing your domain and then just purchasing because they found out about it? I have never even visited Sitepoint so I am a little confused here. (I may be being dense on this issue…)
The third tactic is amazing! I have never actually thought of using other people’s forum signatures. I have seen people do things like hire people to post all over forums (with useful comments). I have seen people post a question, answer it with another account, debate it with a third account and get a conversation started, getting more and more backlinks (linking to a few similar offers and testing conversions) and doing things like that. However, I have never even thought of having my link in someone else’s signature! That is a brilliant strategy, and I think I am going to go look into that right now.
Just a question about that though, do you first start by asking them to do it for free and if they say no then you offer them money? How do you approach these respected community members about linking to you in their posts?
Thanks,
Shawn
Tactic #2 doesn’t require you to sell your website… Thats in a different section of their marketplace. They have a lot more then just website flipping going on. What I’m talking about is just selling single copies of a software at a time.
he guys you’ll be buying your sig links from usually hate marketing. So you have to give them a pretty good reason as to why you want them to have a link to your site.
I can’t write examples anymore because they just get mass copied and it ruins things for everyone. But you basically want to make them look more like a leader, put them on a pedestal… Tell them you want to “sponsor” them for all their great efforts. Just like if they were a popular blogger or athlete… Heck in some intense video game markets they do kinda think of themselves as athletes!
Keywords are “we want to sponsor you”
If i want to sell a website, can you give a list, where is the first place to sell, the second, the third, and etc?
maybe in the next post you can give the list, thanks very much.
Well we have lists like that in http://www.thesiteflingmafia.com as well as lots of other website flipping information. We also have http://www.learnwebsiteflipping.com
This blog just really isn’t meant for teaching about website flipping but we try to slide a few things in everyonce in awhile since it’s part of our business.
WOW! Thank you for that article and thinking of your subscribers first. By the way, tell your wife that we greatly appreciate her patience and understanding, in regards to you always sharing your secrets.
You could have charged at least $47 for a report detailing those three secrets, along with some rehashed info on forum and article marketing!!
yeah for sure, but we all hate that rehashery bullshit don’t we? I mean I’ve only bought two courses this year and both of them were because they had NEW information. I’ll puke if I see another SuperBlackHatGoogleAnnihilatorSystem book for sale! lol
Justin,
This post is pure gold and one that I have to put into my resource book. I have never heard of the “National PR Pitch Book” Man you must have been in a good mood when you wrote this post or did someone tick you off?
I love the idea of forum marketing, it sounds like a great way to find a forum where your target market would be found. Become the expert in answering questions and providing help and content where needed and leave your sis file. Have you found a system that works in using forum marketing, as it appears that it could be time consuming spending time in a forum reading and answering questions?
Hey Donovan we do have a system for it and we talk about it in a post here http://sitefling.com/blog/free-website-traffic-is-100-possible
The Pimp Of Geeks , I like that.
It actually came from one of my email addresses, a really old one, that is PimpOfGeeks[at]Gmail[dot]com
Hey Justin,
another great post – it’s very cool that you share these great tips!
The Sitepoint one is excellent.
One thing about your techniques is that they are very different to everybody else’s so there are less dogs at the bowl trying to feed.
Thanks very much Again,
Tony.
Tony Finbarr-Smith’s last blog post..The As-Yet Unnamed Info Product (the video I promised you)
Yeah man and it’s not really that i’m something special it’s just I’m all about always trying to find the easy way. My dad used to always give me shit about it but I just said “No one is pissed at the guy who invented the wheel!”
Everything I do is like ok here’s what everyone is doing, how can I do something just like it but not have to fight for my spot. I read a lot of Al Ries and Jack Trout stuff and they always talk about using “flanking” moves in your business if you are a little smaller then the big guys in your industry.
You would LOVE “Marketing Warfare” which is one of their most famous books.
As they say you learn something new everyday. And I learn something new everytime I read your posts.
“National PR pitch book?” never heard of it before – now I have
What no flipping website on sitepoint? – there’s another new one on me.
Get away! I can use someone elses sig box in a forum and get traffic? Justin you are the man
Am gona set your site as my home page so everytime I launch firefox I will have the awesome information you give right before me – get my day off to a great start.

Thanks for the info. It’s very useful.

Same here and when I found out about the book I felt like I had found the first ever Bible lol – Hope thats not blasphemy for comparing the two eek!
The forum one was very good. I will start doing that this weekend or early next week.
Sitepoint was interesting don’t really have some software stuff but I am sure I could buy some somewhere.
Got to stay focused on what I am doing right now. Which is videos about making money as an affiliate for product launches. Its going well. Got a killer testimonial this morning so I was pumped.
So here is my Testimonial for you Justin.
You guys are great. Not a lot of people making 6 figures+ a year would take the time EVERYDAY to post QUALITY stuff. Most “gurus” out there send you emails 2-3 times a week or more just pitching. (sorry don’t get me wrong I am not calling you a guru don’t want to insult you. :>) Love your stuff that your wife and yourself put out to the public.
Have a great weekend at your seminar hope it goes really well for you.
Steve
Thanks for the testimonial dude, wish you could be here tomorrow for the workshop. We just practiced the slides and it’s going to be some killer content!
Wow,
As always impressed with your insights. I have implemented many things you have suggested in the past, everytime success, success.
Great Research and impressive results in following your advice.
Your an Amazing Team.
Keep it Up
Dazmon (Australia)
Its so awesome to hear when people are implementing what we teach and having great results. The hardest part about teaching this stuff is getting people to actually do it, once they do they fall in love. Thanks for being awesome!
Satisfied,
Justin you are correct in saying that some IMer’s are gonna be pissed at you. Heck, some are even gonna try to flame you as well, but that is alright. I appreciate you being you and your down to earth style that delivers the goods. Myself having been marketing quietly online since 1999 have seen a lot of things come and go. The info that you are providing is golden and many people can relate to you and your style. This is one of the things that seperate you from so many others that may know more than you or have a bigger audience than you. You keep it real and you do not mind leading by example. Keep doing what you do and much success to you and your fam.
Cheers,
Jimmy R Williams

Wow man thats probably the best compliment I’ve ever gotten on this blog. You rock and I hope I can keep putting out more stuff that you like.
J Boogie, you are absolutely killing it right now bro! Keep it up. I agree with you on all points and have seen you in action.
I think I was a pawn of forum sig bribery once before, in exchanges for access to a nice tool
Good stuff man, I love it, mucho love bro

Justin,
Thanks This post was Awesome!
My Fav of course was #2 , Im sure you pissed alot of people off by giving this secret away, but I thank You!
Can’t wait for more,
Kelly Cole
Yeah that one was definitely going under the radar for 4-5 people I know. There’s a lot more on SitePoint too… I bet I could make a whole “money making” course just on using Sitepoint.
Great post Justin. You keep provide such great info, faster than I can implement. You keep providing the info and I’ll play catch up. Thanks.
Keep it coming…

Leslie’s last blog post..Targeted Web Traffic – From Where?
Little by little, I sure didn’t learn all this stuff at once. I just take notes and try to implement one new thing each week.
Hi Justin, another great post and fantastic traffic strategies. I love being a part of your list
But anyways, i have a little issue that i need your advice on. I am getting at least 80 uniques daily to my video blog, but the conversions are..quite bad to say the least. I monetize the blog with maxbounty cpa ads as well as an opt-in form for list building. It doesnt really help that the traffic i receive daily is general, and not really targetted to any specific niche. What could i be doing wrong? Really appreciate your advice, thanks! Here is the link:
http://coolfunvideos.com
Three things I saw from a glance over at your blog…
1.) There is no logo and people are used to credible websites
having logo’s.
2.) Multi-colored text on the right hand side makes it look
very home-madeish. Same with some of your graphics.
3.) When I went there I only saw one post and one ad. In
your niche you have sites like http://www.icanhascheezeburger.com
and http://whatilikeontheweb.com
You’ll notice that they both have lots of things for the browser
to look at and take them deeper into the site. Plus they are using
more of a white background. Almost every “mass traffic” type
site is using white backgrounds. Look at Facebook, Myspace,
and Google for example.
Hey Guys… AWESOME!
Do ya’ll currently have any affiliate programs set up? If so where can I sign up?
Email my wife sitefling[at]gmail[dot]com
Great info as usual Justin. I checked out National PR Pitch Book site after reading your post here never knew it existed. I have joined Market-it.com with all the trimmings for advertising and marketing. Still have not used it yet. You know I only just finished clearing my email in two of my email addresses at 12.22am Saturday morning here in Australia and started Friday morning at 8.30am. Do you wonder how I not get to market anything?
Fair Dinkum I have 4 other email addresses to deal with and a boatload of PR to upload , I mean I am not complaining found some really cool OTO’s to add to the PR sites including flyin adverts and setup Power link on my server.
When do I get to market just as well I pay someone else to do my capture pages in the meantime otherwise I would be paying for an autoresponder that would also not get a look at. Ha the days go to quickly its Anzac Day on Sunday here in Australia seems not to long ago we just had it.
Richard Dacker’s last blog post..Creativity is the key! One has to think out of the box
Sounds like you got way too much incoming noise. I’ve unsubscribed from just about everybody. I get maybe 10 – 15 emails a day now plus I use email forwarding so that all my different email addresses dump into one main inbox.
I’d get rid of at least 50% of all that stuff coming in if I were you.
Truly inspiring. I’ve lingered here for weeks and never walk away without pure gold content to chew on.
Thanks for being truly a giving team!
Dawn
Thanks for being a loyal reader… Without you all we’re just heads talking to a wall. You are what drives us!
That’s some wicked tips there Justin.
The forum sig technique really works. I have doing that to promote my established site flips for a couple of months now and everything is doing great.
And for the SitePoint technique, I think it would be much better if you could offer a discount to the product that you are promoting. For example, strike a deal with the product owner to give people you referred a 5% discount or something if they came through your affiliate link.
Desmond Ong’s last blog post..I’m Still Alive
It’s awesome how cheap you can rent people’s sig boxes too aint it. I’ve had guys willing to do it for just $20/month and they averaged 10 posts per day!
Good tip on the discount thing too, I have seen some people doing that. Haven’t tried it myself but makes sense. As more people catch on it’ll get important to make yourself different from the others.
Thanks for clearing that up Justin.
I now understand what to do with Sitepoint, so that makes more sense now. (I am going to have to spend a couple hours browsing sitepoint ans just getting a feel for it.)
I understand not being able to give out examples, I just wanted an idea of how to approach them. So basically I just have to mention that I am sponsoring them.
Just one more question. If you contact someone saying that you would like to sponsor them and they say no, do you contact them again with a new offer and see if they accept? Or do you leave them alone after the first try. (I know it takes persistence to get into the media, I am wondering if that is also the case for this…)
Thanks,
Shawn
Yeah some of the guys are really snobby like they really think of themselves as like hot stuff because they have 5,000 posts. Just gotta use basic negotiation skills, hit them low first and then work your way up to the highest you think its worth.
Another thing you can do is offer then $0.xx per post in the forum. That gets them excited because now its up to them how much they make. 10 posts per day x $0.25 per post equals $75 per month which is cheaper then $200 I recommended above.
Not everyone will say yes but when you land someone it’s awesome. Not just for the traffic either but then you can go to others and say “look we sponsored him too.”
you’re right. not a lot of people talk about this stuff… unless it’s you and i on our phone pow wows!
we gotta invite people into those calls huh?
publicity/traffic = the same…
i dig that.
you rock my dogness
Alejandro Reyes’s last blog post..Social Media’s First Baby Turns 1
YES BRO! We gotta get our phone calls public man. I know my subscribers would love to hear our mastermind sessions.
Hey bro all I can say is let me know the time, the number, and the price and I’ll be on that call in a sec!!!
I love how there’s a new wave of blogging that seams like it’s taking form… Maybe it’s just me, maybe it’s not new, but i’ve just haven’t seen it…
It’s a group of bloggers that just don’t give a f—! Pulling out all the stops, not holding anything back, and helping one another… Super reachable and touchable, and totally opposite of what the “gurus” are doing… Not hiding behind support tickets and no-reply emails…
I seen where you commented on a martial art blog of one of the subscribers of this blog… who does that??? Most people want you to comment on theirs but could give a rats a$$ about you…
I love it!
Keep up the good work!
J
Hey Justin,
I’ve been using method #3 for a few years now and have
NEVER heard anyone else talk about it until now.
Thanks for blowing our secret…just kidding…keep up
the good work.
hahahaha thanks for the comment dude, hope to see you around more. I love #3 it’s really awesome for niche product launches too, using the forum infiltration technique from Kern’s Mass Control.
That forum marketing idea really rocks!! Something that sits in front of you all day every day and you never really think about how you can use it. Thanks for the tip.
I haven’t done a great deal with PR up until this stage. Have to go check it out.
Just wanted to mention that I got a bunch of traffic starting to come to my blog from Stumbleupon thanks to your socialtwist gadget that I put on my blog last week. Thanks for the tip.
Hey Justin,
We have a saying in England, probably more so within Yorkshire.. in regards to the sitepoint part – “that’s rate good” – translated… Wow thanks for sharing that tip, I have been using site point for a while and am now kicking myself, why haven’t I done that before!!!
Nice one – one more follower to your blog
Rich
You try to implement one new thing every week is great. I try to learn one new thing every month…
These three ideas are great.

The forum pimping thing may be something cool for me to try in conjunction with your post about outsourcing traffic generation tasks.
Interesting information …
Maybe you can give a reference forum that can be visited, because I am newbie. Thank you
Interesting post… particularly about Sitepoint… I get their newsletters regularly and I ALWAYS check out their listed apps and sites in the sidebar… never thought to use it or their marketplace for affiliate marketing tho… can’t believe I never thought to use it… LOL… great tips!
Thanx!
Hi Justin,
I am sure the affiliate marketers will be pissed off by this post.
Though it is really informative and I have learned some cool ideas from it. Thanks for sharing these secrets.
Hi, Hey thanks, very useful,,,,I'll keep in touch and let you know how it goes. Thanks again,
Woodco
So over much information about traffic. Thankyou
Justin, thanks for sharing such great information. Yes, PR are something that more marketers need to learn how to do, they are a resource that most people do not even think of using.
Hi Guys, I have listed a Seo software product on sitepoint and usfreeads. So far I have not made any sales but it is still early. I will keep you guys posted on my progress.
