Kickstart America With Dave Lakhani

August 11, 2009

Hey you're kinda new here aren't you... You should subscribe to our RSS feed, so you never miss our posts. It's also my mission to get to know all my new readers. Connect with me on Twitter so we can chat. Thanks for visiting!

You can’t turn on the news today without hearing “the sky is falling” from your local newscaster talking about the state of the American economy.

Things are in the shitter!

But some of us are doing something about it and I’m hoping you’ll join us. The leader in this movement is Dave “World Changer” Lakhani.

What Dave is doing is one of the most noble things any of my friends are doing right now in fact probably the most noble thing anyone I’ve ever been able to call a friend has EVER done.

And what he’s saying is true, we can’t expect the government to fix us. We can’t sit back and wait for them. WE built this nation, WE built the government, WE need to fix our economy and WE can do it if we become a WE and not a bunch of “I’s.”

It doesn’t matter if you can’t donate a lot of money. You can help with a single blog post. You can help by re-tweeting this blog post. Digg, Stumble, Tell your friends, volunteer your time, ANYTHING.

In the next 3 days I will drive over 2,000 people to this website. If we all could give what’s equal to one hour of our time to Dave’s movement then that would be 2,000 hours of assistance.

Imagine if we had 2,000 tweets about this…

Imagine if we had 2,000 Diggs…

Imagine if we had 2,000 people email 5 of their friends about this…

I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Dave on a business level and a personal level. We’ve eaten some of the worlds spiciest chicken wings together at Buffalo Wild Wings. We’ve debated UFC matches during pay per view fight nights at my house, and we’ve masterminded together about ways we can help more people that are living in these tent cities.

There are no hidden agenda’s, Dave just simply understands the basic human rule of giving to others and good things will be given to you in return.

There are not enough people in Dave’s position using their elite marketing powers for such great causes. I feel we should reward Dave for that, but what’s more important is that we reward those people living in the tent cities.

They are not traditional homeless people, they are our neighbors, cousins, and uncles. People that were trying their hardest to make things work but their worlds were turned upside down by the company they were working for going under or an injury.

I’m contributing by helping Dave build a video resume website for each tent city across America. Dave is leaving behind cameras for them to make video resumes and they’ll be posted on these websites for the world to see who these people are and how they can hire them.

Some of the guys in these tent cities are masters at their trade and willing to bust their butts for a job. Anyhow, I just had to post this on my blog to do my part in telling everyone I can about Dave’s movement.

I hope you’ll do what you can in your own way also…

  • Justin,

I must say that Dave is doing a wonderful job. This is rare and I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. And Thanks to you too, you have also done this wonderful job of introducing Dave's mission to us, I will surely contribute in the formation of that WE.

  • Nice strategy here of Dave! I just hope someone here in the Philippines would also think something like what Dave thought. Definitely, there's much help needed here.

  • Justin,
Great way to take the initiative. You are correct in stating that what Dave is doing is indeed a very noble thing. One of the things I've always loved about our country is the way we have always, in the past, been able to put aside our differences in times of trouble and united as a collective and corrected our problems.

We have too many people, in this great country, who have no hope. If the problem is going to be resolved, it's going to have to be done as you said, by the people. The government, both on the right and the left are too busy fighting each other over power and we are paying them in this nonsense. The politicians have a roof over their head and never miss a meal, the people in need are the ones who suffer, but that's another story.

Not been able to jump in and join a program like this one, that Dave is heading, only makes me more determined to be successful so that I can do my part and help others who might need a helping hand.

What's so tragic about what is going on in our country is that many Americans have pets that are living better than some of our homeless neighbors. I'm sure that some will be offended by my saying that and I not saying that we should treat our pets badly, but what's the message that we are sending when we value people so lightly.

Justin, you are so right in saying that "some of the guys in these tent cities are masters at their trade and willing to bust their butts for a job." I hope that we never forget that the wealth of our country is in our people and not the material things that so much more value is placed on.

We need to put people back to work and it's up to entrepreneurs and other business people to making the difference. Hopefully the government will not be a hindrance to those trying to make a difference.

  • We need more people who are willing to actually get out there and help people.

This is an amazing opportunity, but unfortunately it isn't right for me at this time. I wish it was though.

Is there any way I can just donate some money to help the cause? I want to help in some way, but I know that I am not the right person for one of the 100, and I don't know what else I can do. If there is anything I can do to help, let me know as I would love to get involved.

  • Justin Brooke
    Hey Shawn,

The tent cities need business clothes for the people to go on job interviews, call them. Also, you can help by passing this on and helping Dave find those 100 people that are right.
  • that's such a great post justin i will email it along to all my contacts. and retweet it hopefully it will help start some good viral pull.

anything positive would be better than what is on the news. i've had to stop watching the news it's just too depressing
  • Justin Brooke
Yeah, I can't even watch two minutes of the news... Just can't let that much negativity inside my head. I feel bad for the reporters and camera men and even worse the people in the stories.

With word of mouth and the power of the Internet we can get the right people involved though!
