How Not To Go Broke With PPC

Everytime I recommend PPC marketing or Google Adwords someone always tells me some horror story about how they wasted a lot of money and that it doesn’t work.

I won’t sugar coat it… If you don’t watch what you are doing PPC marketing CAN be like hooking up a vaccuum to your bank account. However, that’s if you are an idiot and don’t setup daily budgets!

Using PPC marketing and not setting daily budgets is about as smart as reaching into a deep fryer with your bare hands to scoop the fries out. There’s a reason why safety devices are created!

So how do you start from the absolute beginning and not get “burned”

I’m actually not here today to teach you myself and instead I want to introduce you to Josh and Jaxon. Who wrote me a very compelling email with an amazing story earlier this week. I think they would be best to teach you…

In fact I’m not even going to try and re-write their story, I want you to experience what I experienced when I opened my inbox.

Dear Justin,

I was wondering if I may ask for a little help.
Now I am not begging sympathy by no means, but rather asking for some much needed help.
Me and my mate got together, and he has been making $300 a day through PPC constantly, but his parents have been laid off so most of the money goes to rent, bills, groceries etc. and he is left with about $200 a week after tax. So what me and him have thought of is that we create all of his knowledge into an E-book and sell it for $15 a copy so anyone and everyone can afford it, and change their lives for ever as well.

Now he has made about $500 from marketing through forums, but we have kind of got to a stand still and stuck.

We were wondering Justin, is if you would be able to send an email to your subscribers with our product in it. That would be truly amazing, because we are on our last limbs over this, and we want to make this work more then anything in the world. If you want we could give you 50% as well if that sounds better?

We are in such a dire situation, and coming up with money at 17 and 18 years of age is very difficult especially with the stresses of holding the family together as well.

You are out last hope Justin, and it would mean the world to us, not to mention it would change our lives forever.

I suppose the best thing we could offer you right now is a free copy if that will help you make a decision?

Thanks Justin, Hope to hear from you very soon.
I get at least 3 requests for JV mailouts everyday but something stuck out about these two kids. They reminded me so much of myself and they seemed very genuine. Trust me when you get a lot of JV requests everyday it’s pretty easy to tell the ones whit their heart in it from the ones without.
I told them that if they could show proof that they really were making money and let me review their book that I would consider it.

Was Their Book Any Good?

To be honest their book wasn’t very fancy at all, but it was step-by-step. It’s the perfect book for a beginner but definitely not for the advanced marketer. I figured I’d give them a shot and promote their book anyhow because I know a lot of my readers have been stressing about how to not go broke with PPC.
These kids barely had any money to begin with and they got started. They didn’t go broke and in fact they’re now helping their family pay the bills. I give Josh and Jaxon a super virtual high five!

How Can You Get Their Book?

Now of course I’m not taking any money from these kids. Even if I was an affiliate what kind of commission could I make off of a $15 sale!?!? I will say that I tried to talk them into changing their price but they wouldn’t budge.
I told them they could at least get $27 and that $15 just wasn’t a “normal” price. However, they want to stick to their guns. Which is cool I guess because now you get to buy a great starter guide for less then $20. They’ve turned this knowledge into over $500 per month… Could you use an extra $500 per month?
I don’t make anything off of this but I do recommend you go buy their book, called PPC 911. In fact I’m going to really help these kids out and offer one of my own Advanced PPC tactics videos to their download page.
So if you go buy their book you’ll get their starter guide plus my advanced tactics for when you are ready for them. I’ll tell you one big secret though… Just buying their book and reading it won’t make you any money at all. If you want to make money with PPC then all it takes is action and action builds confidence.

Go Bigger,
Justin Brooke

that’s crazy… I thought that would be me paying for my family for a bit… My dad lost his job and I was wondering if I’d have to start dishing money back home…

Thankfully he got a job again!

that’s cool what your doing for these kids!

And there still in high school! that’s crazy!

If only I would have got my head out of a book in high school and took more action!

Have a great weekend guys! :)

I am not a big PPC marketer. I am much more into SEO, but I have a couple hundred dollars worth of PPC courses on my computer. It definitely cost me more than $15 to learn the basics, so that is a great price to get started with PPC.

I know the basics of PPC, and I even know a lot of advanced PPC tactics. But how can you not help someone in a situation like that? Also, if you are recommending it, then I trust that it is a good book. I will be grabbing a copy shortly, and I think that everyone reading this post should chip in and help out.

I mean, with all the info shared on this blog for free, I think all of us reading it owe something in return. Why not listen to your recommendation and help out some people in need?

I’m off to grab a copy now. I know these guys are probably thanking you, but I just want to say thank you Justin for being willing to help out these guys. I appreciate it (and I’m not even benefitting from it)

Shawn

Justin,
I have read a lot about PPC but have not used it in any of my marketing yet. I love the word picture to caution users on it’s use; “Using PPC marketing and not setting daily budgets is about as smart as reaching into a deep fryer with your bare hands to scoop the fries out.”

Josh and Jaxon will also be great copy writers one day. If they are making $9000.00 each month from their PPC efforts then they deserve to be listened to. Justin you got a big heart! I will be picking up a copy of their PPC-911 e-book. Anytime we have young people like these guy’s taking the initiative we need to support them. I cannot wait to see what they will do in the future.

Thanks Shawn and Donovan, these kids are going nutso ecstatic about all the orders we’re sending their way. I’m sure the money will go to good things too, they have good heads on their shoulders.

What these kids should really do is a $97 follow up case study on how they created the product… I know the site template is a free download at Minisite911.com just for opting in… the copy isn’t the most hypnotic, but genuine, and they are getting free publicity from one of the best blogs online when I couldn’t even get info on becoming an affiliate! LOL…

Then offer that product as an easy upsell…

These kids are on the right track…

Kudos

Dude… Don’t even get me started on all the things these kids could be doing! I tried telling them to add a funnel and all the other standard infomarketing advice but they are content with what they are making.

I’d certainly be doing things a lot different if I had full control over the project. But they are doing a great job for just getting started… All it takes is action and action builds confidence!!

$300 a day is very good amount of money made through PPC.

They should prepare a powerful product launch strategy, upselling strategy and get a big list of emails. No doubt they will be huge success in the future.

Hi Justin
Never really done very much with PPC. My preference is to concentrate on SEO, but $300 per day is not bad money.
And, what better than seeing a couple of young guys having a big go at life. They will go far if they keep going. Won’t be long and people will be wanting to JV with them.

You’re leaving A LOT of traffic (and money) on the table if you’re neglecting PPC. I’d bet you could double your income just from having a good PPC campaign going.

Hi Justin,

I was so impressed with the story of these two high school students that I read in the Wealthy Affiliate University Forum that I contacted them and asked for their permission to re-print it on my Wealthy Affiliate Blog.

Life is Amazing (A 6 month WA Story Courtesy Of Two High School Students)

Of course I am advertising their PPC911 product in this post, but NOT as an affiliate.

Cheers,

Making $300 a day is awesome and I like that they are helping their parents out. What I don’t get is that you’re referring to the $500 they have made from selling the ebooks as if that is what a person buying it will be able to do? Don’t you mean that if you buy the ebook one will be able to copy what they do to make the $300 a day?

Justin,

Just your video made the book worth the $15. Your tips were actually very helpful and are going to help me save money on my brick and mortar business adwords campaign.

There is one thing that I wish you had covered but can’t find an experts opinion on. I followed all of your instructions on the video but there is the Status column that says I need a higher bid to get placed on the first page. Is this inaccurate or should I at minimum bid that amount for that keyword in order to be at least placed in the 3-6 ad spot?

“EligibleFirst page bid estimate: $0.80″

“EligibleFirst page bid estimate: $0.80″ That is the status that I am seeing regarding my keyword bid. I bid .35 cents per click.

I am geotargeting my keywords since this is for a brick and mortar business. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

A lot of times when they are saying to pay more money per click it’s because your quality score isn’t good enough. Here’s an article that has 10 ways to improve your quality score

However, 80 cents isn’t that high so I’d probably just go ahead and pay it while watching my ROI from that keyword.

What is a good quality score? Mine are all in the 6-7 range. What should I be shooting for normally?
